I wrote a few posts on Catholicism some years back and they still get lots of hits, so I thought it would be helpful and appropriate to post this great book on Catholicism I found this morning at gutenberg.org called:
(My prior posts: 14 Holy Helpers; Prayers for True Desperation; The Infant of Prague I; Infant of Prague II)

I've had this blog for FOUR YEARS today.
I thought about going through and pulling my favorite posts and items from each year, but when I saw there were almost 1600 of them total I decided against it. ... And then there are all of the photos and music...
I thought about listing all of my neighbors and something about them, but you all know who you are, and that if you are in my "FRIENDS" list I think you are especially special.
So that's it, rather unceremonious, but there you have it.

The HAND FAN MUSEUM of Healdsburg, CA.
You can see images of past exhibits, or watch a 7 minute video about the museum, or see the fans they have in their store.
I am partial to the first one, with cat heads as flower tops.

I don't know why she irks and aggravates me, I wish I could put my finger on why Kate Greenaway's works irritate me when I love Randolph Caldecott's art so much - since they are, according to popular consensus, very similar, if not practically identical, styles.

Yeah, I know I started a history blog so I wouldn't drive you nuts with this stuff, but these songs from the Internet Archive aren't exactly Civil War tunes... they're just old.
A Dollar Down and a Dollar a Week With Chicken Pie by Arkansas Woodchopper.
Sally Ann by Frank Blevins & his Tarheel Rattlers.
Streak of Lean, Streak of Fat by A.A. Gray & John Dilleshaw aka: Seven Foot Dilly.
Soldier's Joy by The Skillet Lickers.
Sing me a Song of the South by Joseph Natus.

Ice cream season is here! What's your favorite flavor? How do you take it? (Cup, cone, waffle cone, sundae etc.)
It's the same answer as last year, and the year before that... It's always Hershey's Teaberry ice cream, and I like it in milkshake form, it's easier to shoot it directly into my veins that way.

What is the best FIRST album of all time?
I could list about 15 that I can think of, so I'll probably be changing my answer later...

Punk? Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols - Sex Pistols Vs. The Ramones - Ramones
Girl pop? Beauty and the Beat - The GoGos Vs. In the Heat of the Night - Pat Benetar

Aural perfection? The Clash - Clash
